Scotts Weed and Feed is making my lawn green, but its not killing the weeds?
What is the deal with that, and how do I kill the weeds? I don't want a lecture on how I should not use weed and feed and use something natural... I don't have time for that.

Ok here's your answer. Granular weed and feeds are very tempermental. They MUST be applied to a wet lawn to allow the granules to adhere to the plant leaves AND have no rain on the lawn for up to 48 hours. If the lawn was dry when applied or it rained (or you watered) it won't work. To get the weeds now, just go to liquid broadleaf control. Weed b Gone, or any of the others available in liquid form.
And keep fertilizing!! A healthy thick lawn will keep the weeds under control better than all the corn glutton in the world!!

Ortho Weed Be Gone can work if applied properly and at the right time. It will not control all weeds and can't be used on all types of lawns but is worth checking out.

Beats me... because I a a guy come out and do mine, and Im still getting them too. I know he suggested 4x a yr. for the weeds. Did that last yr. and here they are again this yr. The only other thing I can think of is, that by using this stuff, it makes the roots/grass thicker, therefore choking out weeds. Im ready to find something to spray on them myself in addition to what he does.

Weed and feed fertilizers dont kill existing weeds. They prevent new weeds from germinating. You can keep applying it every six weeks for the next year or two by then the old weeds may have died off and new weeds cant germinate. or pull the weeds out by hand which if you dont get the tap root they will just grow back OR by a weed killer spray that is safe for lawns and apply it directly to the weed it may take a few applications and a few weeks to get rid of the weed but is easier and faster than pulling them.
