Can I replace a socket in a medicine cabinet light or do I need to replace the whole cabinet?
I have a bathroom medicine cabinet with two 60 watt light sockets. It looks like the "Broan Flair 28" model. (At lowes - Item #: 517545 | Model #: 327LPX). One of the sockets seems to be blown - replacing a light bulb doesn't work. Power to the unit seems to be ok because the other socket works fine. Can just the socket be replaced, or am I better off replacing the whole unit?

take photos == map the wires == mark the wires == understand what wire go where == you are now ready to remove the old fixture == take the old fixture to the Lowe's or the HoDepot and match == get the needed wire nuts and black electric tape to use insulating wires === go home and do all this in reverse to install the new fixture ..... BEFORE you take the old fixture out [[ with the power OFF look in the old fixture for the center contact to see if it has been depressed down so much it is not making contact to the power ==== do the same with other plugs and sockets and wall switches == those parts are very reasonable and that """remove and replace""" will save you hundreds of dollars for those repairs === XTX

It uses incandescent bulb sockets, so the problem should be fairly simple to correct. Whether the problem is with the socket itself, or upstream in the wiring, I know not. Since a new unit is $150 or so, I'd definitely try to fix it myself, but I don't know if you are handy enough. Do you own a multimeter and understand important electrical safety procedures?
