why are there so many wolf therians?
I am not one, well, I guess, technically speaking I could be considered one. And I DO NOT mean to hate or make anyone feel bad. But I came across the words "therian" and "otherkin" which I decided to look into, and thought huh, sounds like me. But there is ALOT of people who say their animal is the wolf. For me, I am deeply connected to the wolf, reasons unknown, but is it simply because they want a cool animal, or taking it from twilight, where they want to be like, I think his name is Jacob. This is.strange, but I see animals in other people, don't know how or why, but I NEVER see a wolf, and I get around a lot. I understand that in this community there will be more than one, but it seems like 95% are wolves. And with me being able to see, or sense another's "inner animal" it just seems improbable that everyone that says they are is. Yet again, I do not intend to offend in any way, the therians and otherkin seem like good people, and if you are a wolf, and know that to be true, then sweet, more power to ya. Thanks in advance.

When attending therianthropy discussion panels, I've found that wolves are only a slight majority of the theriotypes present. When including other canids like foxes and coyotes, that majority grows a little bit more, but it's never like a vast majority or even approaching 50%. Since therianthropy is so random and difficult to study regarding its causes I don't think it would be possible to figure out why there would be more wolves other than mere speculation. It could be because of the long standing bond between wolves and humans, making the internal/external species mismatch slightly more likely. Or it could be because they are such a highly intelligent species and are quite comfortable being stuck in a large human brain (although therotypes include other species that naturally have very small brains such as birds, reptiles, mice, and insects).
If you perceive there to be 95% or so of therians whose theriotype is wolf based on you sensing their inner animal, it's very likely that you are applying a little too much bias towards wolf in what you think you're sensing, or what your ability to sense it isn't as strong as you think so you're missing other details about their personality that point towards species other than wolf.
Regarding your deep connection to wolves and thoughts that there's a possibility you actually are a wolf on the inside, you're the only one who can determine that for sure. There are no real tests to identify what species your consciousness/soul is, but here's something you can do to help figure it out as described by the host of a therianthropy panel I once attended. Take the idea that you're a wolf and put it up on a shelf (figuratively) for 6 months or so and don't even think about it. If the thought fades and doesn't come back or gets replaced with other things occupying your attention, then most likely you're not a therian even though you do feel a very strong connection with wolves. (Can't blame you there; they're pretty awesome.) But if the thought keeps creeping back and nagging at you, like a wolf is poking his nose into your mind and won't leave you alone, then the answer is a definite maybe. If that's the case then it's something you should look into more deeply by studying wolves and their behaviors and personalities, and doing a lot of soul searching and self analysis to figure out if you are in fact a wolf trapped in that human body.
And yes, therians and otherkins are good people. They have to live their lives, work their jobs, and maintain relationships just the same as anyone else. Every one I've met has been a really nice person.
