am i a therian?

I recently came across therians and otherkin, first off what is the difference between the two? But more importantly, is the fact that when I came across the subjects, I thought "wow, that sounds like me" I have had a very, very deep connection to wolves for over 10 years, never knew why, but whenever I saw wolves, I thought "I belong there" and always felt strange things happen when wolves were mentioned or if I saw them. And call me crazy but whenever one howls, my eyes get kind if wide, and I breathe weird, not loudly though haha. In the past I did a native American meditation for finding your spirit animal, and it turned out to be a wolf. I did this multiple times to make sure I wasn't just wanting the wolf. I have always felt a wolf in me ever since I was 5, I'm in my 20's now. Now that I dig deeper into this, I recognize more and more things that describe myself. So, if I am, let me know. And also, is there anything I should know about this community. Any advice for a newly "awakened" therian as its called. If I am one of course. Thanks.

Therians and otherkins are both under the umbrella term of therianthropy. Therianthropy is the phenomenon where a human's consciousness/soul is fully or partly that of a nonhuman animal. Basically, an animal trapped in the body of a human either alone or along with the human consciousness. That identified animal species is called the person's theriotype. A therian is someone whose theriotype if a real world animal, either living or extinct. An otherkin is someone whose theriotype is mythical or otherwise does not exist in this world (ie. dragon).

I described in your other question about the number of wolf therians what steps you can try to determine if you are in fact a wolf on the inside. Something I forgot to add to that is that you should keep an open mind and accept yourself for what you discover yourself to be, even if you conclude that you are as much human on the inside as you are on the outside and just feel a really strong connection to wolves. It sounds like you're on the right track for figuring things out with your meditation and studying wolves. Nobody besides you can determine if you are a therian wolf, so really nobody but you can let you know about it.

Something to know about the therianthropy community is that it tends to get a lot of role players and people who think it's just a cool fad, particularly in online groups and chats. If you are a therian and are just recently realizing it or awakening to it, it helps so much to have other therians to talk with. That's why you have to pay attention to the things people tell you about themselves to figure out if they are genuine or just role playing. (Hint: anyone who claims to be able to physically shapeshift is a role player/wannabe.)

There is no "native American meditation for finding your spirit animal" . Because native americans don't HAVE "spirit animals". The concept of "spirit animals" is entirely invented by the new age movement, and has NO basis in any native American tradition whatsoever. It's all made-up.

And the funny thing is, 90% of all new agers all claim their spirit animal is a wolf (otherwise, eagle or bear))

Now, I also guarantee that you've never met a wolf in the wild. They are cowardly animals, and only attack prey that is weaker than themselves, or if they outnumber it. They prefer to attack the helpless- the young. They are not loyal. They do not care for the old, and the sick or injured of their own pack, but will turn on each other and drive them out of the pack or kill them. If they have a rival in the pack, they will kill the helpless pups of their rival.

In my tribe, calling someone a "wolf" is a serious insult. Can you see why? (and it also explains why so many white people identify with the wolf mentality.)

No. You are not a wolf, you do not have a wolf soul, you have no soul at all, there is no such thing as a soul. You just like wolves.
