In the UK the press are still trying to convince us the voting public, that UKIP are the real thing?

they keep telling us this is not a protest vote but a real change in British politics but I can not find a single person who voted UKIP that did not do it as a protest.

it seems to me that the press are playing games by giving UKIP lots of hype and over blowing there success

lets remember it was a low turn out so most voters just stayed at home rather than vote UKIP

Hi i wonder if those pushing this idea have really looked at the ukip manifesto as it has similar opinions to the national front.

If some of the electorate are sick and tired with what the main Parties seem to offer, than of course it can be referred to as a Protest vote. The new boys on the block, so to speak, may not be the ideal to run a Government, but they certainly know what most people in this Country want to hear and you have to admit that UKIP have gained the ears of the electorate. If nothing else,it has been a warning shot to those in Government and in the other main Parties, that the political playing field now has certain boundaries

Its natural that the Press will log onto the situation, because it sells their tabloids.

When you ask, is UKIP the real thing ? Than you have to admit, that they have at least achieved a "wake-up" call to all the others.

That can not be bad, can it?

    Have a nice day..

Let's remember shall we, that every house in Britain with registered voters in it were sent poling cards. If they did not vote, then it's their own hard luck!

And people like you STILL don't get it do you? UKIP have always got stronger and stronger in their short 20 year history, taking more and more votes at each major poll. No longer are people protest voting, they actually mean it! Arguably, I might even say they protest voted for YOUR parties going off your numpty logic. Do wake up and look at the facts. UKIP did well, whether you like the idea or not!

In the good old days, we could exercise a protest vote for parties who were generally harmless eccentrics with no chance of power, such as the Monster Raving Loonies, Greens or Liberal Democrats.

But in these dark time people seem to protest by voting for far-right lunatics with no chance of power.

Given that most of the media have been very biased against UKIP, I find it hard to get anything from what you have asked/said. UKIP are growing at a phenomenal rate, not just percentage of vote but signed and paid up members, and their vote is not going anywhere.

If we continue to grow at this rate, then most of the nay sayers on here will have to accept that they are wrong. Me thinks that will be the case.

Yes, the right wing press seems to have made up its mind regardless of the actual poll.

Labour had a bad day even though they increased the number of councillors by 338, which is DOUBLE the total number of UKIP have git, but they gad a good day??

    It makes no sense.

Labour now run 82 councils ( an increase of 6) but UKIP run none.
