Alaska weather is unpredictable It could get warm or it could be cool. But the chance of rain in at least one of your stops is likely, especially Ketchikan. So bring layers of clothing, Bring a pair of shorts, plus a few long pants, a jacket and something for the rain. I bring a rain poncho which packs up nice and small. I also bring gloves and a scarf if your going through the fjords or Glacier Bay where it can be chilly. Do not bring a heavy parka and not a bunch of sweaters. Also most people on a Alaskan cruise dress pretty casual.

I went to Alaska in June, and wore both light and heavy clothes depending on where I was and what I was doing. The only extra clothing I bought was a sweatshirt. I wore a heavy jacket doing white water rafting and a helicopter ride to a glacier. I watched people swimming in a park on a chilly day when I was wearing slacks and a windbreaker. So take layers of things and be prepared for anything.

I went to Alaska at the end of June and the beginning of July '08 and it was 70 degrees by 9:00AM in Juneau. Tour guides said that the previous week, they got 12" of rain, so I guess that WE were lucky!
In Skagway, we rode a helicopter out to a glacier and everyone was overdressed, thinking it would be cold on the ice... everyone except me, I wore short pants!
