Is it okay to have luggage on the subway in New York City?

So next month I'm going to New York with a friend for a few days, and this is my first time going. We're travelling by Megabus, and like anyone else who travels, I'm hoping to save as much money as possible and I'm wondering if it's a bad idea to travel by subway with luggage as opposed to getting a taxi?

You'll have to maneuver your luggage up and down at least one flight of stairs (very few subway stations have escalators). If you feel you can accomplish that, then use the subway...except in rush hour.

If you're traveling during rush hour or if you don't like the idea of the stairs, you're probably bettter off with a taxi. It will be more expensive, of course, but since you'll be 2 people, you split the fare.

My friend, it not a bad idea to take the subway with the suitcase and saver a few bucks. Thousands of air travelers do it everyday.

    You're going to be fine.
