Why did everyone make the Trayvon Martin trial about black vs. white when Zimmerman is HISPANIC?

Zimmerman is actually half White, not fully Hispanic. Anyway, race was a factor in the coverage of this case not only because of the racial backgrounds of Zimmerman and Treyvon, but also because of the way it divided the public along racial lines. According to polls, a majority of Whites sided with Zimmerman and they were his most vocal supporters (conservatives in particular). Meanwhile, a majority of Blacks and Hispanics disagreed with the verdict and felt he should be held accountable for murdering Treyvon. Additionally, all but one of the jurors were White.

At any rate, some people accuse the media of jumping the gun by focusing on race, but look at the right wing coverage of the story. They strongly defended Zimmerman's actions and even went so far as to label the deceased unarmed teenager a thug.. clearly there were racial overtones there.

I think it was less about black vs white and more about racism towards blacks in general

Hes not Hispanic his family just tried to say that to make the case look like anything less than a hate crime persecuted on by racial profiling. But whether or not this was an actual hate crime if we take away the race factors Zimmerman still deserved to do jail time because he took the life away of an innocent young man who was just buying candy. **** Zimmerman and **** the court that deemed him innocent for the cold blooded murder of a YOUNG MAN I don't care about his race he was a YOUNG MAN.
