Why do my nipples hurt?

Its been about a week now and I can't figure it out. The possibility of me being pregnant is very low. I can't find any other reason s though. If I were younger, under 18, I could chalk it up to hormones. But I'm 23. Also my boobs are slightly bigger and my nipples are usually hard. In pain still. I really want to know if anyone has anyways other suggestions before going to doctor. Please no pervs.

    I think it's PMS. Right before I start my boobs swell and my nipples hurt so bad.

    it can be a result of hormonal imbalance. PMS signs maybe. stress can cause pain.
