Open Carry in Texas- is this the preview of Militias that will be running our streets?

On TV they show people in Texas carry large assault rifles in a Chili's Restaurant and a convenience store? It really looks like a war zone down in Texas- with the purpose to instill fear against average citizens?

Has it gotten that bad that people feel the need to carry such a highly visible amount of arms that to me looks just like Syria or other countries drowning in civil war? It looks REALLY BAD!

What are the REAL intentions of these people?

The REAL war zones are Baltimore, Detroit, LA, Chicago, Buffalo, DC, Philly, etc. People are shot , lots of people, every day and night, Day in , Day out, 365 days a year, People killed, lives ruined,

All in areas with ultra strict gun laws.

And a few people carrying open and not comitting crime get all the airplay, People are so susceptible to "visual theater" instead of the real dangers in the world.

"It looks REALLY BAD", in the above cities, is IS "REALLY BAD" and no one takes notice.

The whole point that these people are trying to make is that ANYONE should (and in many places does) have a right to keep and bear arms. It's not about a group, gang or militia. But, I think they did a poor job communicating that message and your comment kind of supports that. I think your view is probably what a lot of people are taking from this. Exactly the opposite of what the demonstrators wanted.

Their real intentions were to draw awareness to the right of Americans (all Americans) to have and bear arms. They did a poor job communicating it and I agree with you that to many it probably does look bad. I guess what they fail to consider is that many Americans cannot imagine themselves as gun owners. In places like New York or Boston it is probably normal for people to view guns as something only criminals or people who fight criminals have any business carrying. If I saw 3 men with rifles walk into a gas station dressed in camo I would assume they were deer hunters. If you saw the same you would probably think militia or crime in progress. I can't really blame you. Were both the product of our environment but to the people in your environment, the message of this demonstration was completely distorted in the worst possible way.

Nah. Once these cretins realize how profoundly stupid they come across, they'll slink away with their metal penises and go back to hiding under their rocks.

As Paul Harvey used to say, you need ''the rest of the story''.

Open carry in Texas is restricted to rifles only - no handguns.

So - in order to draw attention to this inequality, the group goes out into the world.

In the case of visiting the Chipotle restaurant - they had permission and no one, staff or customer freaked.

Organize crime is in control of our major cities right now! We are sick of your city folks problems boiling over into our territory! Keep your drug dealing, drug making dope heads in the big towns- we don't want them in the farm land shooting up our schools!
