Do liberals understand history at all? They claim that defending ourselves from the Government?
Is a poor reason to own guns.
The rational being that since we will lose if we fight them, it is stupid to use that as a reason to own them. Do you understand that when we stood up to the great British empire that we were outgunned, out manned, we had no navy. In fact at valley forge many of the Patriot soldiers had no shoes, and even no pants. NO PANTS! We fought many battles with 1 gun for every 2 soldiers. If the guy with the gun dies, you pick it up and keep fighting.
The Zulu nation fought valiantly with ROCKS AND FREAKING STICKS against the mighty English armies and narrowly missed victory. During the french revolution the people rose up against a better armed government and overthrew it. Out manned, out gunned and out numbered. The Bolsheviks did it as well.
History is littered with examples of the people fighting oppression and winning even when they are outnumbered, and out gunned. So i am forced to ask, is it just a question of you not knowing your history, or do you just believe that it is better to serve at the right hand of the devil than it is to die at his feet? or do you honestly believe that our government is incapable of becoming so corrupt as to lead to a dictatorship with no defense against it? what is it. Seriously explain to me your gunless utopia, and follow it through, think out 100 years and where do you see it?
So, evan are you suggesting that we simply give up our guns, and just accept that the government is exploding, and we have no recourse?

Chewy. You have to read buddy. My recitation is of times we defeated armies with superior weapons to us. as is the case now. The US military has fully automatic weapons. We have Semi automatic weapons. they have tanks we have F-150's, that list goes on an one, you get the picture.
Seriously Mommanuke, ok. SO are you saying that you actually believe that if you take all the guns away from all the ordinary citizens the government would never come in and take over and institute any form of tyranny? Do you thing the folks in Germany perhaps thought it could not happen to them either?
let me clarify something really quickly. I believe that there is almost nothing that could be done that is more stupid than a group of citizens attempting to provoke the united states government into a fight. What i am referring to is the government strikes first and starts truly coming after us all.

Seriously, explain to me why you think our sticks and swords can fight Abrams tanks and F15's.
There is no more colonialism. No one from the government is trying to take over your country and make them into slaves churning out profit for the invaders. No one rational thinks your pop guns can fight the US military.
That is the reason we think it's a poor reason to own guns.
On the other hand, if you want them for hunting, self-defense in your own home, feel free. But don't pretend they can protect you from the government.

We know and understand history very well, thank you. We know the 1st Congress didn't pass the 2nd Amendment nor did the States ratify it on the grounds of giving ordinary citizens the right to overthrow the government. The Amendment was put in there on behalf of the States who wanted to make sure that they were powerful enough to stand up to the National Army.
Even today that is true with 50 National Guard units versus regular army forces.
The Zulus, by the way, almost won due to superior numbers, not weapons. At Roarks Drift, a small British unit faced thousands of Zulus and won with better weapons.

Gandhi fought the British Empire with no guns and won.
They knew they couldn't win with violence, much like Americans wouldn't be able to win against a military with three quarters of a trillion dollar annual budget. The Americans don't know how to revolt the way the Europeans do. You don't need guns, when a national general strike would do the job without bloodshed.
So if you don't like the Gandhi example there is always the first plebeian secession of 494 BC against Rome. You wanted history.

Yes, liberals understand history. We just don't understand how your recitation of times when we defeated armies with inferior firepower justifies claims to have equal firepower as what the military wields.

true-- Non-violent movements in Egypt, Bahrain, China, Libya, Syria and even Israel
are FAILING because governments are cruel and heavily armed
and working for a secret global corporatist cabal.
STILL- the people are not murderers - not as much as the rich.
