Can I give the bride's Mother a gift?

My cousins daughter is getting married and I will be attending. I have not seen my cousin for years do to geography. 2 years ago she was only given a 10% chance to live while battling cancer. I would like to bring her a small gift to congratulate her. I would not do it publicly. I would with cancer patients and I want my cousin to know how happy I am for her.

There's nothing wrong with it but what would you say? I'd feel abit weird. I mean no disrespect by this but would the gift be saying 'glad you're alive' or something equally as bad.
