Intuition is...?

Notwithstanding the dictionary definition, most people use the word intuition in the sense of some form of understanding of the world or its phenomena that is not supported by an explanation or is simply unfounded but most likely true.

If so then I would say Jeremy and Cormagh are wrong because their definitions render the concept practically identical to experience itself since experience is usually defined as both the activities done and the knowledge gained from doing them.

I think Michael is closer to the definition since intuition is similar to a hypothesis in that both lack all the data, except for the fact that intuition will immediately back up a course of action whereas a hypothesis is set as a reference to be proven. It is not necessarily 'educated' since uneducated people have intuitions as well, but based on an everyday logic.

So when scientists or philosophers of science use the words 'intuitive' and 'counter-intuitive' they refer to what a scientist would find reasonable or unreasonable before doing any proper research.

So back to the dictionary. I think it is indeed direct and immediate but it isn't an apprehension, it is a practical understanding of the world, of universals, of values or of rational truths

Accessible when we leave the imagination/thoughts/ego where all limitations exist!

'Intuition' is Knowing (the answer) without the process of thought, understanding!

'Knowing' without needing to follow some rickety train-of-thought to get there!

Directly, immediately being at the 'peak' without having to travel through the valleys and swamps of the imagination!

Intuition is all we need, and all we will have in a few hundred years!

Ego = thought/imagination!

Intuition transcends all limitations that exist only in 'thought/imagination!

Intuition is immediately knowing that for which you seek!

Is never 'wrong'!

Holistic rather than 'linear' (imaginary)!

Intuition is any experience whatsoever, as long as it is perceived. The mind is what it is at birth, not devoid of experience, since there is a pre-birth "world" the fetus dwells in, "practice intuition," if you will. In any event, the intuition comes from the aforementioned experience. The "intuitions" mentioned in this incorrect definition, universals, values, and 'rational truths', are all the results of previous thinking, and are not intuitive at all.

Something becomes intuitive when the pattern is so consistent, or the consequences so dramatic, that you no longer have to think about it rationally. The first time I touched a hot stove, I knew rationally that it was hot. Now I know intuitively, and I respond to avoid the danger without having to think about it consciously.

Another example of intuition about danger is electric fences. I have difficulty touching an electric fence. The intuition that hot wires hurt is so strong that even when I have good reason to touch it, my unconscious says "NO!" and I have to fight my own body. Electric fences don't cause injury, but my intuition know it's really gonna smart! :p

Short answer: intuition is learned through experience and has to be learned. Even the intuition that seems to come from nowhere.
