I honestly cant see what any of them expected to gain from shooting down a passenger plane ? There could only be one result.

In my view it was an accident.They probably thought they were shooting down a military plane,or there was a Muslim terrorist on board who exploded their bomb.?

Because he didn't do it. When you strip away all the Geopolitical BS, the facts are you have pro-Kiev Ukrainians(who feel sympathy for the EU), and pro-Donetsk Ukranians(who feel sympathy for Russia).

Ukraine isn't a part of NATO, so with all the big-talk, no help will come.

Russia is making a point of it, to not do anything, they even left the border unguarded to prove that point(because the EU demands both a retrieval of troops, AND extra border protection, Russia is saying choose 1), and they already told the seperatists, no help will come.

Now for some reason the Politicians feel the need to keep making this a NATO v. Russia issue, when the facts are, it's not.

And that displaced reality, is allowing the Civil War in Ukraine to just rage on, and get more, and more out of hand.

In 2001, Ukrainian government downed an civilian passenger plane using missiles, during an exercise, only came clean after international investigation.

U.S promoted the Ukrainian civil war with the help of the E.U. What does Putin get from downing the plane? Zilch.Putin's plane flew over the same space after signing the Brics version of the IMF bank. Was Putin's plane the target via the U.S backed Ukrainian government who is killing its own civilians with immunity? Or did they think it was a russian transport plane delivering supplies thus fair game?

The sanctions will damage the E.U, Russia trades with China. China picks up the tab for bankrupt or overspent U.S.

You have to be careful with what is going on. War becomes possible mostly and very aggressively under 2 circumstances. Widely diverse culture and government. Or severe economic pressure.

Japan was facing increasing economic needs when it attacked China. Facing greater future pressure under US sanctions. Each culture was widely diverse from Japan. Japan attacks US.

Germany had been economically savaged after WW1 by the Allies, Culturally different too. Result? Vengeance.
