Are they still allowed to hit kids in school in India?

Corporal punishment such as spanking or administering a cane or a belt across the buttocks or on hands is banned in schools in India but this is mostly followed by private schools or high ranking governmental schools. In lower income schools, the practice is still prevalent.

And in respect to houses, it changes with every family but parents can and do become violent with children even in upper middle class and sadly, no body objects to that.
