I always write a resignation letter and then turn it in to my manager in person and explain why I'm leaving. In the letter, thank the company/your manager for the opportunity of working with the company and teaching you along the way. Leaving a company is a common occurrence, keep it classy and professional. You never know when your paths will cross with them again.
