Whats the better choice when choosing alcohol? (please read before answering)?

I'm 24 years old, i am 5'9" and i currently weigh 220 lbs. A pic of me is listed below. So i'm trying to lose another 30-40 pounds and was wondering whats better to pick....light beer or alcohol. now when i go out i tend to drink things like Mikes hard lemonades given i'm a student on a low budget....I was wondering if Light beer (such as bud light) would be far better a choice than those high sugar drinks...please let me know.
