My girlfriend is on section 8 housing and has a surprise inspection/audit coming up, if I'm there visiting will she get in trouble?

You are allowed to visit but if you have enough stuff there to look like you live there yes she can get in trouble. Yes the manager does usually keep an eye on the property but no we do not usually make a habit of stalking. NO they cannot go through her stuff but they do have every right to look inside closets & every room in the unit.

Under Section 8 rules, overnight guests are limited to a specific number of days per year according to the particular Housing Authority. The lease may have something different, like 3 days per week. Your friend should check both landlord and caseworker. No Housing Authority does not watch you but the manager or landlord and other tenants do. The way you are asking this question makes me think you are living there part time and that is a violation. You are allowed to be there during the inspection but if it appears that you live there, your friend will be questioned.

The inspection is just to see how she is maintaining the unit. If it's obvious you stay overnight that could be problems for her. It's not a surprise visit, they will give he a date and time. Just make sure you're not there.

I would think as long as you can show proof you have your own place IE a lease you should be fine. She is allowed to have friends and company I would think.

"temporary guests" are allowed; however, best to just not be there (or look like you live there) when they are around.
