Mold on my pasta sauce lid?

Update:

I ate some pasta today only to discover later on that the lid to the sauce has mold on it. Is that okay? I probably had a little less than half a cup. It didn't taste or smell funny. Just checking in to see how bad it is...

It is not good, but unless you start vomiting or get diarrhea you will probably be fine. The only way that pot cover would have gotten moldy was if the sauce had been stored in the pot with the cover, for a few weeks in the fridge, but the sauce should also have had mold. Transfer food items from a saucepan etc. to a storage container before refrigerating or freezing. Most items should be OK in the fridge for 3-4 days, but should then be frozen.

Oh, I've had that happen a couple of times to me before. It's usually when a bit of sauce gets on the rim of the jar. I've used the sauce, making sure it didn't touch the mold, and I've always been fine.

Still to this day I have that happen to me alot. I keep my pantry pretty stocked and sometimes stuff gets pushed back and I use it way later. I have never had an issue. If the top does not pop when opened...then I may wo% you and not use. At this point it's in your tummy if 2 hours pass and your fine...akunamatata. lol

As long as there was no contact between sauce & lid,

the sauce being cooked, should be safe.
