Diesel squeals?

Neighbor's diesel has an annoying squeal as he releases accelerator during shifting. I'm assuming not a transmission/clutch problem but something about the diesel itself. Just curious. Kills me to hear an engine with a problem as well as annoying as he shifts his way through the gears.

    yeah its prolly running a boost pop off. this relieves pressure in the intake and the squeal is the sound of the turbo being vented. its spooling down.

    they dont do it in stock form, so id guess hes been playing with a tuner and some extra parts, atleast ive never heard a stocker pop off like that

    Seems to me that if it's your NEIGHBOR'S truck, then it's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

    probably the turbo making the high pitch noise.
