IS KHAN ACADEMY A HOMESCHOOL?

No. K12 is a supplemental curriculum resource. It is not a school or designed to be used for your primary schooling. It is not accredited. It is for additional information about subjects.

Most online programs are either public or private schools. You are considered enrolled in the sponsoring school and must follow their rules, schedule, assignments, and curriculum. Unfortunately, NY does not permit online public schooling, so that only leaves private which you must pay for.

That is not the same as regular homeschooling. Regular homeschool has your parents in charge of your education and follow your state homeschool laws. You can independently homeschool without being enrolled in any program. You just need to follow your state homeschool laws. Unfortunately, NY is one of the more difficult states for doing that since they have a lot of requirements and regulations.

No, Kahn Academy is not an accredited home school program. That doesn't mean that it isn't an excellent resource for independent homeschoolers. If you like Kahn Academy, and might enjoy similar sites for other areas of study, you need to help your parents understand that you can homeschool independently. Your parents then create any progress report or transcript needed for anyone who might need an accounting of your progress.
