If you are conservative...do you have a moral obligation to 'defend' against liberal ideas?

And the same for liberals against conservatives. I am curious on this forum why people will answer they emotionally charged way they do, without evidence.

Update:

I have some good answers on here, thanks!

No. Conservative principles are important for a variety of reasons, such as maintaining fiscal responsibility, making sure the government doesn't overstep its boundaries, and that we keep our nation and our people safe. The problem with many of the modern conservatives is they have abandoned logic in preference to emotion.

It is one thing to say "Climate alarmism is overly hyperbolic, and the world won't end in 10 years" (true), and quite another to say "Climate alarmism is overly hyperbolic, and therefore there is nothing to worry about, because there is no way we can effect the climate" (False)

It is one thing to say "we want to encourage people to care for themselves, so we should have work requirements to stay on welfare." (true), and it is quite another to say "We want to encourage people to care for themselves, so we should gut welfare all together, and let the poor sink or swim." (False)

It is one thing to say "If taxes are too high, it has the effect of diminishing economic productivity and economic growth' (true), and quite another to say "Every time you cut taxes anywhere, it creates economic growth and prosperity." (false)

It is one thing to say "We do not want to encourage irresponsible sexual behavior in the population, and therefore we don't want people relying upon abortion as a form of birth control." (true), and it is quite another to say "We don't want to encourage irresponsible sexual behavior in the population, and therefore we will eliminate comprehensive sexual education, limit women's access to birth control options based on our beliefs, and make it exceptionally difficult or impossible to obtain an abortion for any woman for any reason in order to make sex seem sinful." (false)

It is one thing to say "Our nation was built on the concept of religious liberty, and therefore any citizen should be able to practice their beliefs how they choose." (true) and quite another to say "our nation was built on religious liberty, and therefore a citizen has the right to force their religious beliefs on to their employees in the forms of their compensation." (false)

Sooner or later people will do what is logically necessary, the problem with conservatives is that they tend to want to exhaust all other options prior.

There is no moral obligation, but it is more efficient if we can skip unnecessary options and proceed with logical necessity.

Without evidence of what? It depends on the subject. Some "liberal ideas" I can live with... others drive me nuts.

I defend against what I perceive to be stupidity, which is often conservatism but not exclusively. Sometimes I sounds stupid in the process and sometimes that is planned and other times not so much. Other times I sound brilliant, which is always planned. :)

I feel a "Moral obligation" only when faced with overt racism.
