Computer not detecting ethernet cable?
When I plug in the ethernet cable on my PC, it lights up, but now, it doesn't ever since I uninstalled Hotspot Shield, the ethernet icon is not showing up either. Any ideas?

Yes. Well, let's ignore the lights for now. Do you get any messages when you try to use your browser?
Also, review your "Device Manager" screen and expand the "Network Adapters" section. Make sure all of your network adapters are listed and do not have any yellow or red icons next them.
Next, go into Control Panel -> Network & Sharing -> Change Adapter Settings -- and look for your "Local Area Connection" entry. If it says "Disabled," rt-click on it and select 'Enable'.
Still having issues? Bring up a Command Window and issue the 'ipconfig /all' command. Update your question with the info in the "Ethernet Adapter" section and we'll take another look.

Hotspot Shield is just a software that creates a virtual private network. It has nothing to do with the hardware itself. Have you made sure that your network adapter is enabled in BIOS and Device Manager?
If that's not the case, try resetting the network adapter through Command Prompt.
