Should police officers have overhead lights on when doing 70mph in a 35mph downtown road?
Officer was responding to car driving in left lane(non highway road downtown country town). Dash cam evidence shows officer speed, brakes, lights, audio. Officer was not responding to anything major.

In America the Federal law for emegency vehicles is this. Any thing over 5mpr. and overhead lights and 4 ways must be used. Any thing over 15mpr and lights and siren must be used. So if provable report him to there insurance company. As hat is a unisurable act for a emegency vehicle to be in. In a wreck the city or what ever will pay not there insurance. Have them deal with the police a tax payer complaint is worthless to them. Yes any thing over 15mpr posted speed is recless driving a unensurable act and criminal negulence if pressed after the acident they have. If they don't pull a cover up.

I can't "Monday morning quarterback" this play! I don't know all of the information!
It's possible that the department ordered the officer to come in without lights and/or siren to avoid panicking the driver. If that's the case it is up to the officer to handle their car safely.

On most police vehicles if the dash can is recording it's BECAUSE the red and blue flashing lights are on.

Go down to the precinct and complain and see how many doors open to the outside.
