Ebook formatting problem. I have uploaded and converted a book using the 'Ebook Creator" software with Kindle. BUT...occasionally...some?

of the paragraphs are 'too' indented. I have tried numerous ways to rectify this...but some are still indented too far (three of four spaces). I have left-justified...I have gone to each and every paragraph and re-done them. But...I still have the problem. Is there any software I can use to create my ebook without this problem? Is there any way I can adjust my document to make the conversion work properly with Kindle's ebook creator?

You left out the most important part - what format are you submitting your book as?

As a programmer, what I would try to lose weird formatting...

First I would make a backup copy of the original book document.

If using Word (doc, docx) format, I would export the book as HTML. Then I would use a text editor to look through the html for weird formatting and I would get rid of it. I would leave any good formatting between paragraphs. and at starts of chapters

Alternately you could try exporting the Word doc as RTF (Rich Text Format) which will lose some formatting. Then try submitting it as RTF (or if Amazon doesn't accept that, then try importing it with Word and resave as doc/docx (Word) format.

If weird formatting was carrying through to the two above formats (HTML and RTF), then I would get desperate and export to plain text and then convert that to HTML by hand by manually adding minimal HTML formatting (chapter headings on new pages, paragraph breaks, etc).

I would not have written an ebook with Word to start with since I don't trust it not to add formatting of its own. I prefer a format that lets me see its formatting commands.

One other note - you can try using the free program Calibre to do your own conversion to mobi format - maybe that would make your work cycle shorter and let you see formatting errors before submitting the unconverted document to Amazon.

FYI - If I wanted to use free ebook writing tools I would use yWriter. If I wanted to convert to ebook format myself, I would use the free program Calibre.
