How to tell if my hair is healthy or not?
I asked this the other day and haven't gotten many answers, and one of the two answers I did get clearly didn't actually read my question, so I will try again.
I recently spent nine months on blood thinners. One of the side effects was that it did shitty awful things to my hair. I am off the blood thinners now and working to improve my hair's condition.
What I want to know is how to tell if my hair is healthy, or how far along it is to being healthy? I spent so long with unhealthy damaged hair that I can no longer tell what is what up there. So what are some things I can look for to help me out here? It's a bit frizzy because it became very brittle while on the blood thinners and I have only been off them for about four months. I'm not sure how to tell what is new growth and what is breakage. Help?
Also, I need to make this clear as possible. DO NOT TELL ME WHAT VITAMINS TO TAKE. I have a medical condition, which prevents me from taking more of certain vitamins than what I would normally get out of food. I spoke to two doctors, a pharmacist, and a hair stylist and I am already taking vitamins that were designated as something I can safely take. ALL that I want to know is how to tell if my hair is healthy, I do NOT need to know what vitamins to take because I am already on vitamins. Thank you
I want to know how I personally can tell if my hair is healthy without having to make an appointment with a doctor or stylist. I do not need advice on what products to use.

It can be difficult to tell new hair growth from breakage, but generally truly new growth hairs are softer, smoother, and thinner than the rest of your hair. They will also be lighter in color than your natural hair color but will darken as they grow. You can also tell if you're losing hair to shedding or breakage by looking at the strands of hair that fall off in the shower or you find on your brush or pillow. If there is a tiny white bulb at the end of the strand, that means that hair has reached the end of its natural growth cycle and is a sign of shedding. If there isn't a white bulb at the end, that probably means that strand has broken off. Because it's impossible to prevent any kind of damage to your hair, it's expected to find breakage here and there, but if you find more than a few, then that could mean your hair is more damaged than normal. Other signs of unhealthy damaged hair include brittleness and inelasticity (if you wet a section of your hair, hold them between your fingers, and then pull at the ends, the section should stretch and then spring back when you let go, not break), excessive porousness (if you drop a section of your hair while it's dry in a container of water and it sinks, that means your hair is too porous), roughness, split ends, and excessive matting and tangling.

A hair dresser (or your doctor) can definitely tell you if your hair is healthy just by looking at it.
