Why do so many anti Christ religions prosper or flourish?

they neither prosper nor flourish. they merely appeal and appear for a little while, to those who are foolish enough to be sundered by them.

religions are culturally based institutions and so specific religions rise and fall in line with the fortunes of the cultures in which specific religions are dominant

Are you talking about Paul hijacking the Jesus followers or about some new cults... invisible friends work in mysterious and confusing ways.

Believe it or not, people are allowed have different beliefs and are not required to believe the same things you do.
