Greek Orthodox people are Christians who understand and worship God according to the understanding and pattenrs of the early Church, and who happen do do these in in a cultural (if not linguistic) setting that is from the early Greek-speaking ancient patriarchates of Constantinople, Antioch, Alexandria, and Jerusalem, or the very early Orthodox Churches of Cyprus or Greece.

Most Greek Orthodox outside Greece are under the Ecumenical Patriachate, not the Church of Greece. Some other Greek Orthodox are under the Patriarch of Antioch, and call themselves "Antiochian Orthodox. " Many of them, I'm afraid, have neglected to notice that their mother church is the "Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and all Syria."

One does not have to be an ethnic Greek to be "Greek Orthodox". One is Orthodox first, and the ethnic designation (Greek, Russian, Serbian, Romanian, Syrian/Antiochian, Bulgarian, etc.) second.

Roman Catholics are Christians who worship according to the understanding and worship patterns of the Church of Rome, which separated from the four ancient Orthodox patriarchates in (a somewhat inaccurate, but convenient) 1054 in the "Great Schism".) The Roman Church, being up until that time *the* Church in the west, heavily influenced western culture. Over time, RC missionaries and often crusaders have carried Rome's influence back into the territories of the Orthodox, and many other places. Roman Catholics uniquely swear allegiance to the Pope of Rome.

Anglicans (Episcopalians in the U.S. after the American Revolution) are part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, which started in England as a breach with Rome long after Rome's breach with the Orthodox East. Like nonGreek Greek Orthodox and nonRoman Roman Catholics, there are many nonEnglish Anglicans. Remember Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa? An Anglican, though ethnically "native African".

    Forgive me.

    /Orthodox (GreekO, but not Greek)

The first Church created is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Orthodox Church. It was established in the middle east(from where Christianity began). The Roman Catholic church came later. The RCC began in Rome.

When we say greek Orthodox we mean that you are under the jurisdiction of the Church of Greece. It doesn't mean that you are greek. In fact it doesn't have to do anything with your nationality. Just like roman Catholic doesn't mean that you are roman.

The Orthodox Church is One( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Orthodox_Chur... ).

A 95% of the Greek population are Greek Orthodox Christians, some of whom are very devout. The religion is still practiced and the Church plays inportant role in everyday life.

Regarding your questions of when it started and who established it Greeks were of the first to revert to Christianity and St Paul played an important role in that.

Furthermore, The Bible that you may be using now, was first translated into Greek from the original Aramaic, and from there it was translated into the other languages.
