Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Atheists, Christians, others, how much do you use the Religion and Spirituality section in particular?

And Yahoo! Answers in general as a type of social media? Something someone recently said to me got me wondering. Personally, I would say that my primary use is to get people to think followed by a source of answers with only a trace of "social media" tossed in. So, for myself:

95% challenging others to think.

4 plus % to get information.

Less than 1% as a social outlet/social media.

Hmm...well, it is no longer what I would consider a "Social Media" since Yahoo made all the changes. In fact, I used to never have the setting to see all the questions from my contact come into my email. The reason is, I get way too many emails. However, NOW we do not even know WHO are contacts are. So, there is less and less "Old Timers" on here. I also do see an increase in atheists on here. But, overall, I think the new format is good as far as not seeing all the "Uglies" all the time with their RANTS and LIES.

I agree with you, I like to get information, and even more than that, I like to help others with their questions. That includes all the categories. Fact is, I get better "spiritual response" often from those other categories like Family and Friends rather than R&S, and that is really sad I think.

I come here mainly to answer questions about religion and the Bible. Sometimes, I ask questions to learn about other religions and occasionally I go into another section and ask or answer questions. I don't use it as a social site. But I have got to know some nice people on here anyway.

Because I love God and if anything I have ever answered or asked can bring direction, faith, or to get people to just think about God than I have accomplished a good goal.

It's fun for me because I get to answer a lot of questions. What could be better for a know-it-all like me?
