Do FMJ-Maidana and Pacquiao-Algieri Hint at Possible FMJ-Pacquiao in 2015?
The choice of their opponents which somehow mirror each other's style of fighting is uncanny.
Hope springs eternal.

Could possibly be..................but 47-0 now, needs two more wins to tie the 49-0 record of undefeated wins and only fighting twice a year, why risk a Pacquiao win to ruin that. I can see it after he breaks the record, but then it's late 2015 or early 2016.He's kept him waiting since 2010. Why not a little bit longer.

Long time no see. Been busy. Think I answered this question earlier, wanted to add some logic. I mean, yea, it appears to be that way. But, you can't simulate what it will be like against Floyd. Same thing with Manny.
Look at Maidana thinking he was going to beat Floyd cause he beat Berto. Floyd picked Maidana apart.
One thing I didn't mention on my other answer is this. No way Algeri is as fast or good as Floyd. And Maidana out-weighed what Pacman by 15-20 lbs on fight night. I always find it funny when people say, "all pacman has to do is what DLH, Cotto, Maidana did and he'll win." ALL those guys were 10-20 lbs heavier than Floyd on fight night. Pacquiao WILL be smaller. He will NOT be coming in at 165+. Sorry.

Both fighters fighting another opponent had nothing to do with them fighting next year. Floyd fought Maidana because he doesn't want Pacquiao as his opponent and Manny fighting Algieri because Floyd doesn't want to fight him.
Maidana's style is way different than Manny Pacquiao and Manny was a lefty while Marcos is not. Chris Algieri's style likewise is different to Floyd although both doesn't like the idea of engaging.
Floyd will always find a reason not to fight. This talks of them negotiating was just talk. I read news that Showtime offering Pacquiao 40M plus share of PPV but then Arum refuse the offer. This too, I believed was just baloney. Offering 40M for a potential hundred of millions revenue is like not offering at all. This match up have a possibility of making unprecedented amount of money and can even reach a billion with proper marketing. Just think of the Emir of Dubai's offer of 250M to have the fight there.

Yup. You're exactly right. Pacquiao has said for his career how he hates fighting those who move, run, and are the "technical" boxer type. Yet, his past two fights have been just that. The reason is because preparation for Floyd Mayweather. Algieri's movement is incredibly similar to Floyds. Maidana actually used Algieri as a sparring partner FOR his fight with Mayweather, and now Pacquiao is fighting Algieri for the same reason.
Besides Arum saying there's negotiations going on, Pacquiao has admitted to it, Roger Mayweather has, Floyd Sr has, Jeff Mayweather has, the president of Showtime has... it's a big secret that they're failing at keeping. The reason Floyd flips whenever he finds out his team is talking about it is because Floyd wants it kept quiet before Pacquiao's match with Algieri is to prevent his name from promoting pacs fight.
I promise you it's going to happen 2015.

Boy, that's a tough one. Honestly, both sides share a little of the burden on why the fight hasn't happened, but at this point in time, I gotta say it really looks like Floyd doesn't want to fight Pacquiao. His excuses are absolute bullshit.
1. Drug testing. Yes this was an issue at first, but Manny has been on record for at least 2 years now saying he'll take any tests.
2. PPV/Star Power… This one absolutely kills me. Yes, Manny's PPV numbers are lower than Floyd's and he has less twitter followers. As if the vast majority of Floyd's opponents have the star power Pacquiao has? Please…the only one who I can think of is De La Hoya…MAYBE Canelo, but beyond that..C'mon…
3. Losses/KO… Oh no, Manny's lost a fight, been KO'd. It's not like Victor "I quit all the time, and I'm an idiot" Ortiz is any better.
Honestly, I'd expect Floyd to brush off the fight if Pac KO's Algieri or beats him ugly.

The two parties are reportedly in serious talks. HBO and Showtime are also willing to cooperate. I hope it's true and not just pre-fight publicity for the Macau gig.

I got a report today that Showtime has talked to Floyd about pacquiao and he indeed wants it. I believe it is happening next year.
