How can I erase _ lines and = lines in Microsoft Word?

Update:

It's on a public computer, so I don't know what version it is.

Control-Q worked on some of those lines, and eliminating borders worked on some of those lines,

but I still have lines left which I can't get rid of.

Highlight what you want to erase and press delete. I'm assuming you are asking about horizontal lines formed when you type more than three ___ --- or === in a row.

You press backspace when the cursor is in front of the _ or =.
