Can someone support you financially but not claim you on their taxes? Financial Aid (School) question...?
Okay so i'm transferring to the University in September. I'm a 24 year old student and i'm not going to be living with my parents but i don't have a job so someone else will be supporting me. According to FAFSA i qualify for all the financial aid possible because i have no job.....its still possible for someone to support you without being claimed on their taxes right?

Your tax question will be unrelated to your financial aid. As a 24 year old, you are considered an independent student, so you will need to list only your income on the FAFSA. Your school will likely follow up and ask how you support yourself with $0 income. You will just need to explain that you live with family member/friend (whoever) who fully supports you. Their income will not come in to play, however.
As far as someone supporting you and choosing to claim/not claim you on their tax return, this is a question for their individual tax preparer. Whatever happens will not affect your aid.
