Little amounts for a great big price ?

Why are good products of any kind always packaged to sell in such small amounts ? Like a good serum or oil for the skin is usually in less than an ounce container, when they could be a little more generous and sell them in an a little larger amount for the price which is usually too expensive for such a tiny amount. This is true of any company that sells products that are really useful and work. The real thing is, if they were a little more gererous, more people would buy their product and they would make more money.

There is a saying, "good things come in small packages", and in the perfume and jewelry industry, that is a motto the companies deeply embrace, placing high prices on these small luxury extras. For perfume, the added allure of unique packaging and an unusual bottle shape adds to the special appeal of the fragrance. And the excitement of opening a tiny jewelry box to view the glittering treat contained inside only enhances the occasion. Even the candy industry has embraced the marketing of special chocolates, wrapping them in bright papers, and placing small quantities in small containers for high prices. Lindt chocolate truffles is a successful example.

But all of the above examples are only marketing ploys. Using the example from the question, when a product is quality and works for the user, it sells even when the company makes it only available in a one ounce container. There would be no buyers of a product which did not work as promised, even if it came in a sixteen ounce bottle. Personally have discovered an item, small size with high price, and have shopped for a similar item with matching ingredients which will be offered in a larger quantity for the same or a lesser price, but not always successful in that search.

I purchase 5 gallon pails of Organic Coconut oil, LOTS cheaper than getting pints!

There's nothing better for the skin, or the body internally: http://coconutoil.com/

Companies actually make more money selling small amounts of product for lots more money, because they don't have to spend as much on packaging for the majority of people who don't want to pay much . . . who simply aren't clients.

Many people of money don't like buying what most other people can afford, anyway.

They don't like to 'rub elbows' with the common folk, even if only by buying the same things. It makes them feel 'more elite'.

So . . . it depends on the clientel that the company is targeting.

The product is expensive to produce or purchase and doubling the quanity could eliminate your profit and you would be forced out of business.

Well if you're stupid enough to buy oil for your skin I suppose they're smart enough to make as much money out of you as they can.
