Why "God the Father" & "God the Son"? Why not "God the Mother" & "God the Daughter?"?

Why impose gender on something that has no gender? Doesn't it make more sense that "God" is ultamately beyond such coarse human labels?

Update:

I'd be curious to know your own gender. Maybe this theology is more of a male mindset.

More politically correct: God the Parent and God the Child.

The terms 'Father' and 'Son' when used in the Godhead refer to the way those two Persons relate to each other. They have absolutely nothing to do with gender or one creating the other. It is about their relationship, and that is the closest we can come to understanding it.

The third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, relates differently to the other two. All three persons have distinct functions within the Godhead, yet they are utterly bound up as one in purpose. There is just no sex or gender in the Christian Trinity. Hope that helps you.

You are one of those intelligent minds who envision God correctly. Yes, you are right. People do this discrimination because they usually see women inferior to them.

But I do not impose any gender on God. To me, God is genderless, and that is why I use 'It' instead of 'He' or 'She'.

God is male because that is the difference between a god and a goddess.

Things are imperfect and when you have any number above 1 and you have to choose one you cannot be fair. I wish we could all just grow up and not argue over things like this. But to some it matters and to others it is a way to exploit the other half.

    Jesus Christ was a man.

If that offends you, then so be it, but its not like I can change it.

I think you should take it up with God.

    Hope that helps.
