The sum of our today's ages is 63. How old are you and how old am I ? ;-)

Well,
let be :
Mn and Mb my ages now and before
Yn and Yb your ages now and before
then :
I have today twice the age that you had when I had the age that you have
means :
Mn = 2 Yb
whereas, two equations not mentioned can be added :
Mn - Yn = Mb - Yb : the difference is of course kept
Mb = Yn coming from : when I had the age that you have
and finally :
Mn + Yn = 63
Alka is correct : the solving of the equations (substitution) gives :
Mn = 36
Yn = 27
showing that when I (Me) was 27, "you" were 27-9 = 18
and : today my age is 36 = 2*18 so, twice the age "you" had.
