Would it be a good idea to become a music video director so I could then go on to direct feature films?

There are relatively a lot of famous directors who never went to film school and made it big time as a director. Some of them are even really happy they didn't went to film school. The this they all say is: just pick up a camera and start filming.
You might get some inspiration from reading this. And remember there are more roads that could lead you to becoming a director.

I honestly wanted to do the something. There are a lot of directors that started off making music videos or commercials before they moved onto directing a feature film.
