Haymon and NBC announce multiyear deal; Thoughts?

http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/12167253/nbc-...

Here's a quote from the article in reference to the dates:

"The series, titled "Premier Boxing Champions" -- "PBC on NBC" as executives are calling it -- will include five cards on NBC on Saturday nights, six on NBC on Saturday afternoons and the remaining nine in prime time on NBC Sports Network."

This is not only great for us here in the US, but it's great for the sport. We're going to get Showtime/HBO level type fights on free TV, and good fights on main NBC will get BIG ratings.

Showtime paid for dog sh*t cards like Garcia vs Salka, and now NBC gets Garcia vs Peterson and Thurman vs Guerrero. I love it..

Thoughts? It's been a long time since we had fights on free TV, let alone good fights.

Good news for boxing in America, and I guess for boxing in the rest of thew world too as maybe a free to air channels in other countries might pick up the fights. Not too sure about all his fighters using USDA drug testing. They have a lot of previous form and I'd rather US fighter used VADA or the year round Olympic style testing that PEDerson has signed up for (he didn't have a choice really did he?).

Didn't know Broner is fighting John Molina Jr. That's a risky fight as we saw with Micky Bey!

Quality fights though to start the deal and from what the article says it looks like they will continue to be of the same high quality.

Best thing I have heard lately. Top fighters on broadcast TV. All fighters undergoing USADA drug testing. New camera angle and viewing technology. Brain testing for the fighters. Boxing more accessible to the mainstream audience .... win win win

    Thank you, Al Haymon.
