What do you think of the expression "keep a pulse on"? In my day, it was "keep your finger on the pulse of" but is this acceptable now?

    People are lazy. They always want to truncate everything.

    These days they say, "See the writing on the Wall". The true quote was seeing the HAND writing on the wall.
