I used to live in Texas, where I lived, the soil was clay-like, so I had to amend the soil with conditioners that made it favorable for growing plants. One of the problems with clay soil is that it is either rock hard and water drains off it immediately, or it holds too much moisture. If you think this could be the problem, you can add compost (organic matter - grass clippings, leaves, etc.) to improve the soil as it's too late to amend the soil once you've planted the tree. I don't know if this is a recent photo, but the leaves look to be yellow, not green, so it definitely needs some organic matter (slower to fertilize but improves the soil greatly) or a balanced commercial fertilizer like 10-10-10. Not sure what part of Texas you live in, but where I lived, the temps are in the 60's and 70's right now & mid 50's at night, so definitely growing season.

I'd suggest when the Texas version of Spring comes that you give it

some fertilizer. I would buy a fertilizer for fruit trees if your idea is to

have oranges. Don't give it too much because it is just a "baby."

Hope it grows for you. I'm sure it will.

have you given it fertilizer - some trees maybe don't grow much the first year and February should be dormant season - it's sleeping
