Christians -- What can you tell me about Lectio Divina?
How does one practice Lectio Divina? What are your personal experiences with Lectio Divina? What insights have you gained and/or what have you learned? Any and all comments, thoughts, and ideas are very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Good afternoon.
It’s been quite a while but when I was in seminary we practiced Lectio Divina in chapel. No, it is not just for Benedictines but used by many monastic groups primarily in the Catholic traditions. I’m sure that the practice in a modified form may be sanctioned by non-Roman Catholic denominations. This Carmelite website offers some insights into the practice from the RC perspective: http://ocarm.org/en/content/lectio/what-lectio-div... . Lectio Divina is a combination of reading Biblical scripture in conjunction with prayer, meditation and frequently with texts of learned scholars’ commentaries on the passage(s) being read. This being similar to those reading the Buddhist sūtras (of the Mahāyāna traditions) or suttas (Theravāda) and their commentaries and interpretations. As with many things, there are those who take exception to Lectio Divina's study and interpretation of scripture (see http://www.challies.com/articles/the-danger-of-lec... ). Anyway, here is a website that may be of assistance in your query http://lectio-divina.org/index.cfm .
Hope this helps.
