Traveling to mexico please help!?

I'm going to Mexico with my friend and her parents. Please keep in mind that I am 14, traveling to a different country is diffrent for children than adults. Children aren't required to have a passport I don't have a passport and my birth certificate is lost. I was wondering if I could get across the border still somehow. The border to and from Mexico????? I have a copy of my birth certificate, and my social security number, along with my school ID (it has a picture of me on it), and I have a baptism certificate with my name on it as well. I am 14 and so I don't have to have a passport. Before I lost my birth certificate I could get across the border with that.

Kids under 16 may enter Mexico with thei roriginal birth certificate or a certified copy. You MUST have that. You will not be allowed in without it and it would be dangerous and foolish to try. If you are flying, you MUST have a passport book...You will not be allowed on the plane without it. You must replace your birth certificate, then apply for the passport. You can call any airline and ask and they will confirm that NO ONE can get on a plane flying to Mexico without having a passport book.

You can always come back to the USA., even without a passport. The problem is going to be the immigration office wanting to make sure you're a US citizen. Worse case scenario, they hold you for days until they recieve an actual birth certificate and all the other documentaion you'd have to have presented for a passport.

To go into Mexico farther than the border you need a passport. But for border towns you don't.
