writing an essay question? 10 points!?

I'm writting a narrative essay for English 015 and I was wondering if it's incorrect to start it with a date for example:

December 19, 2011 was the day I realized how irresponsible.......

Is that correct? Thanks in advance!

You could do that. Nothing incorrect about it. Even sounds kind of interesting to start it out with *that* specific date, too. (Even better if you suggest a reason later on, in your composition, why the date is the first thing that the reader reads ... but there's nothing at all wrong with starting it with that, either.)
