Side effects of Azithromycin- how long do they last?

I took Azithromycin last week for an ear infection. The side effects - bloody stools, stomach ache, terrible diarrhea took me to the emergency room. The attending physician took me off the remaining doses (1) and did some other examinations.
When I complained of continued headaches, she said those were also side effects of the medication. I have been taking the CVS version of Extra Strength Tylenol for almost a week. How much longer will these headaches persist? I have been awakened at night with them as well. Any ideas/suggestions?
