Can an extended router solve my problem of never getting a full signal on my laptop?

Update:

I have every obstruction one can think of, so moving ANYWHERE in the house doesn't work. Out of five bars, I often get one. Yes, only one.

You want the solid 5 bars? Easy. Run an Ethernet cable from your router to your room, and either just use the cable, or get an Access Point.

Update: nofearetc. sent me an e-mail:

"Meaning, the extended router? All I have is a laptop with a Netzero modem. Nothing more. "

Without correct information, no one can help you. What do you call a "Netzero modem?" -- 3G or 4G stick or the "MiFi 500" whatever it is? Netzero's website does not tell anything about their devices and specifications. Do you have a manual? If it doesn't have an Ethernet port, about all you can do is to try a "WiFi repeater."

I joined Netzero in '98 with a promise of free access, period, no limits. That lasted 15 months. 15 years ago almost anyone had a better Internet plan than Netzero. It's still in business... wow.
