What is the deal with politicians announcing they are going to announce? Why not just announce?

    Many Fund raising laws prohibit or allow certain things before and after your announce. Legally the idea of "announcing" is very important for fundraising.

    It would be nice to make an announcement with media presence. What good is a silent announcement?

    There are legal issues required you follow before you can officially announce. (PAC money, LLC setup, etc...).
