Does doing press ups as a teenager stunt your growth?
I have a 14 year old brother who does press ups everyday. I told him to stop as I was skeptical about whether they can have the same negative effects of lifting. So the question I'm asking here is, is it safe for him to be doing press ups now or will it stunt his growth like weightlifting.
Thanks in advance.

Growth cannot be stunted by doing exercises, including press ups. Growth may be stunted through malnutrition and illness. That's all.

I'm not sure what a press up is. but yes, some weight lifting is bad for teenagers who are still growing - especially the long bones.
Have him stick with pull ups, chin ups, push ups, sit ups. Just about all the ups are good.

Weightlifting in fact, promotes HGH release, HGH is the hormone responsible for bone growth. To grow taller, plenty of calcium, zinc, protein and vitamins A,B,D,C and E.
Too much weight lifting is not good though as it releases orbisol (not sure if that is the term for it :D) which is contrary to HGH.
