I am looking for a switch I can have in my car that closes or opens whenever I am under hard acceleration.?
Maybe on the intake manifold or something. It does not need to handle any real amount of current. Maybe 10mA. Any thought on something suitable. Or could I pick this signal off of an existing sensor on most any car?

Most add-on nitrous systems have a micro switch that mounts to a universal bracket near the carb or TB linkage that closes under full throttle or can be adjusted to close at various throttle settings....we installed that on my brother's 96 Camaro Z28 NOS setup.Should work for your intentions although only to close the contacts. The plunger type switch that Me Brod mentioned was attached to a bracket near the carb linkage on older Chevelle and Camaro's with the cowl induction hood setup...had that on my 69 Camaro SS 427 and 70 Chevelle SS 454. As the throttle moved to WOT setting, it would depress the plunger and open the cowl induction hood flap...some cowl induction setups were vacuum operated and some were electrical..I recall with the vacuum ones you could watch the cowl flap move open and closed as you revved the engine based on varying manifold vacuum levels.

You need a "plunger style" solenoid. Back in the 70s, some Chevys had a solenoid switch under the gas pedal that only could be activated when the car was "floored". Its called Cowl Induction. There was another switch in the hood scoop that was vacuum activated. Don't know about the ohms draw though.
