are you allowed to bring MRE's in your checking bags?
i am flying with american airlines and i did some searching if it is allowed or not. american airlines says no, BUT!!! it didn't say check-in bags or carry on... so i'm assuming they mean no for both? the reason why they say no is because of the heating packs. so what if i take the heating packs out 0.o?!?! will that work :P? or is the bag that the food is in also a problem?!?!

I am assuming you are in the U.S. military? The MREs is fine to bring aboard. (See link.)
The issue with the heating packs is if it is in a flammable liquid or gas form. The military ones I've encountered (which is most likely what you have) is a magnesium/iron solid which requires water to activate. The solids is fine, the liquid and gas is not.

The heating materials WILL be a problem. Remove those and no one will care. It is just foodstuffs, not a weapon and not dangerous.
It makes no difference if the box is opened or not. If the contents might spill out, simply put the remaining stuff into a plastic bag.
