You lost me at putting Road America in May.
It could be a 65 to 75 degree nice day, or it could be a 40 degree day. Temperatures in the 40's and 50's aren't uncommon for Wisconsin in May. It wouldn't happen every year, but it would happen much too often to be a successful Cup schedule staple.
The other problem with Road America in May, is that it wouldn't look good visually. The trees aren't filled in at that point yet. That many bare trees just makes for a terrible visual presentation. I've been there for 25+ years and the place just doesn't look right that time of the year. It almost looks dead and takes away from the park atmosphere and nature that is popular among Road America attendees.
