The US political parties are actually much closer to each other than the parties on the right and left in many countries, which makes the animosity of the battles over relatively minor points very funny sometimes. For example, NO ONE is talking about nationalizing US industries, a few lone voices call for a single payer health care system, no one talks about publicly funded housing for the working and middle class like they have in Britain, and few on the right are calling for stopping immigration entirely the way some European politicians are.

Well I think most of us agree on National Ice Cream Day, you know if you go to Baskin Robbins on National ice cream day you get a free scoop, what's bad there! Seriously there are some issues that are shared, campaign finance reform, there are people on both sides who are for and against it. I know that not all liberals are gun grabbers, I know some who own guns. My liberal friends know I am not a racist and know that most republicans are not racist, actually anyone with common sense knows that racists can be anyone of any color from any political background.

We agree that some White people are racist and that ice cream is wonderful. Most of us agree that Obama is not infallible in matters of politics. Liberals no longer support freedom of speech (hate speech laws) or religion (hate crimes laws).

Both political parties agree with the corporate overlords who own and control them.

Who said anything about hate speech being free speech? The Republicans have a profoundly flawed interpretation of the Constitution.
